Campaign finance reports show Beason well ahead of McGuire in fundraising

Thanks to Yubanet for keeping me updated while I was away on the latest campaign finance reports for the District 1 supervisor race. When it comes to campaign finances, they show incubment Nate Beason with a comfortable lead over Sue McGuire, who is endorsed by the tea party.

Nate is a moderate GOPer himself.

I wonder whose bright idea it was to persuade Sue to run?

The finance reports are here.

  1. Why don’t you ask Sue? I understand that many working people asked her to run, because they feel government doesn’t seem to care. Knowing Sue’s dedication to goodness, instead of sitting around griping about things, she decided to run for office, and maybe help to make things better… Here’s just a couple of things she was involved in to show why she feels as she does. Perhaps she’s one who has a higher opinion of what public service means. What will be will be. http://www.mcguiresplace.net/Stories-Hurricane%20Katrina%202005

  2. Anyone who would like visit with Sue McGuire is invited to attend her Campaign finance reception at The Stonehouse in Nevada City (107 Broad St. & Sacramento St.) this Friday March 30 from 5-8 pm.

  3. Bonnie, the question for me is why would Sue want to “limit” her chances of being elected in a “purple county” by showing specific allegiance to the “very red colored” TPP group?

I thought she’d have figured out that she will need the “support of the blue colored” patrons, and I don’t think this is the best way to do that.

Either way I wish her the best of luck in her endeavors’ and at her fund raising event.

    • Brad,

Not everyone votes the party line.

In the case of my neighborhood association, our current Supervisor Nate Beason is simply not listening to us about the negative impacts of the proposed 100 unit apartment development that Bill Litchfield wants to build on the old HEW site.

When a constituency feels abandoned or betrayed by its elected representative, loyal party affiliation becomes dispensable.

I am going to attend Ms. McGuire’s fundraiser on Friday.
It will be interesting to see if she’s a better listener than Mr. Beason.

      • Judith, if someone promote themself using a specific party then I have to associate that person with the line of that specific party…..

        Makes sense, NO?

  4. Brad…Sue is sincere, not a politician. She’s doing what she believes she should do regardless of whether or not she wins. She’s an attorney who actually believes the Constitution and Bill of Rights are worth more than the paper they’re written on.
Thank you for your good wishes.

  5. Brad,

Are you talking about the Tea Party?
They don’t have horns, you know.
