Sleep Train had a respnse: “As a diverse company, Sleep Train does not condone such negative comments directed toward any person. We have currently pulled our ads with Rush Limbaugh.”
No. They got him and a bunch of other right wing (cannot use the proper word or Jeff will have to “moderate me”) who do nothing to further positive thinking about the issues of the day. Just right wing hate spewing from dawn to dusk and then some.
Sleep Train just pulled all their ads from RUSH. PERHAPS Local Folks who run ads might wanna pull their stuff from Rush’s show AND from the Rush Wannabes or run the risk of loosing business. You think???
I spoke with Tom – Station Manager at KNCO. I know he must be getting a lot of communication regarding this issue. I think that he is open to this communities comments and would welcome feedback on what we think. Clearly Rush does not reflect our community, he is disrespectful and rude. I have had perfectly lovely conversations with friends who have wildly different political views than I do – that is the type of discourse our community welcomes. Rush is a hateful person – it is time to drop him.
It’s interesting when a conservative makes a mistake how fast the Liberal left is to scream various outrage but when a liberal does it’s condoned. People in general need to look at the facts. This young woman, Ms. Fluke ,is demanding TAX Payers approve and condone her personal behavior because she is just a poor college student at Georgetown Unniversity. This has nothing to do with womens health, it has everything to do wiht personal responsibility and rational, adult decision making. Wake up America, time to get our house in order.
Rick,
It is about power. The power of employer over employee, insurance company over costumer, and men over women. Here is an opinion piece that nails the issue with some flowery language herself.
“The whole Rush Limbaugh and contraception thing has my blood boiling. Not only does the shock jock Limbaugh use disgusting language, which reveals his Neanderthal beliefs about women and sex, but he also totally misrepresents the issues.
I’m surprised the Register, which has its share of libertarian voices, hasn’t spoken out. The issue is not about government-funded contraception – it’s about insurance that one pays for or earns from an employer as a part of salary and benefits; it’s not government welfare.
The mandated coverage simply ensures that insurance companies must provide medically approved contraception and that certain groups can’t prohibit access to contraception because of their personal religious or moral beliefs.
No religion should be able to mandate the health or moral choices of individuals, nor impose their religious beliefs on the rest of us; that’s religious tyranny. Religious freedom is the right to believe and worship as an individual chooses.
The message has become unbelievably twisted.”

Hello Judith in Huntington . I’m a former Redondo Beach guy and do miss the strand. Insurance is indeed a benifit and not an obligation of any employer. If I receive it as a package that I work for I shouldn’t be mandated to share my hard earned money with an entitlement generation student. Ms .Fluke is not a starry-eyed 23 year old as she stated( if so she can stay on her parents insurance till 26, thanking Obama), she’s 31 and not an employee of the college and knew from the beginning that she was in a religious school. No one made her go there, by her own free will she choose to , and if she dosen’t like their policies leave. Rick
I’ve seen a lot of ragging on Liberals for mistakes so how is it condoned? Please look at the conservative sites and it’s all there to see. At least I’ve seen some true apologies and admissions from the Liberals too.
It is time for KNCO to adhere to a higher moral standard. Whereby common decency sets the precedence for your station.
Professional broadcasters have an obligation to its constituencies whereby common decency prevails. Rush Limbaugh’s current statements are not an isolated event. His consistent style utilizing derogatory language toward others has been escalating over time and is not “entertaining” as suggested by some of your listeners.
I am a business owner in this community for over 30 years and will not advertise on a station that supports demoralization of others… entertaining or not.
Thanks. Please sign your name next time. I heard a lot of these “I’m outta here” threats on the KNCO forum today. So what? Most advertisers, including the ones who spoke in the forum, said they did not want their ads to run during Rush. You do not sound like a very compromising individual.
I find it hard to beleive that the Rush people try to compare the comments that Rush made (on a public airways) to Bill Maher makes on HBO.
They scream about freedom of speach, but I bet if Rush played to sound track from a Porn movie, these people would be having a fit as “this sould not be played on public airways”.
Who cares, let them leave and take their crappy and wacky attitudes with them!

Apparently Sleep Train wussed out and caved. Too bad they didn’t have enough guts to follow their principles. Sad

The last time I complained about Limbaugh on KNCO, they told me they’d go off the air without the revenue his show brings in.

Rick,
You are 100% missing the point. It’s not about Ms Fluke its about private health insurance. Have a good day

That’s funny, I thought this was a “moderate” blog.

Oh, I’m not a liberal-!!
David, I would be proud to be a customer of yours.
Yeah David, you have me too. I specifically shop with people who make a point of being good community and corporate citizens.
Rush is the best thing KNCO has going. If he is not on their station, I am outta here – remember KFBK 1530 has Rush 9-12.
