Pro golfer Erik Flores from Grass Valley is tied for third in a Nationwide Tour golf tournament this weekend — the first Nevada Union graduate to be in such a highly ranked position for a PGA event, as far as I know.
The winner collects $108,000. The link is here.
Erik went to UCLA and turned pro in 2009.
The “Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship presented by Samsung” ends on Sunday.
Good luck Erik!
Here’s a video with Eric when he was at UCLA. The interview begins at 2:45:

Erik just birdied #1 and is only one stroke off the lead playing in the final threesome. Let’s hope his good play continues.
8am PST Saturday. Now tied first place.
His dad must be proud, we all are proud of our Miner Alum.
Erik’s father was the conditional trainer/ coach at NU basketball.
Should be conditioning trainer not conditional
Tough day for Erik today. Finished 3 over now T-13. Let’s hope he can get in the top 10 after Sunday and garner some interested sponsors.
Erik finished T-20 for the tournament. Enough to pocket just a few bucks short of $6300 and probably pay his way to Panama for the next tourney.
Dave,
Thanks for the update! Congratulations Erik!
