“The images, the clearest yet of the lawmaker who was targeted in a deadly Arizona shooting rampage, were taken by a professional photographer May 17 at her Houston rehabilitation facility.
“They ‘show Gabby has traveled a remarkable distance since Jan. 8,’ the day a gunman killed six people, shot Giffords in the head and wounded more than 12 others during a meet-and-greet with constituents in Tucson, said spokesman CJ Karamargin.
“The photos were released on Giffords’s Facebook page and were not altered or edited, according to her staff.

Another strong woman that fits the description “Well behaved women rarely make history”.
Until the shooting I didn’t know anything about Rep Giffords but have read about her since and she sounded like a rising star in the democratic party.
Life takes us in interesting directions sometimes.
I’m impressed by what I’ve learned of her also, she seemed very grounded.
In our tabloid society, should she retain/regain her faculties, she’d surely be a rock star in politics. All appearances are that she’s a genuine article, and the astronaut husband would help. They put the shallow Alaskan psuedo-royalty to shame!
If not in elected office, I’d hope she’d be able to channel her passions into further examinations of our mental health systems and destructive political discourse; but otherwise deserves peace in her life after surviving this.
Thank you god for not allowing this to be a complete mess and allowing something good to happen in the myst of such horror!
Way to go Gabby! I hope we see and hear a lot more from this remarkable woman.

She looks awesome. Kudos to her medical team and her strong will to be a surviver. she has my vote for whatever she plans to do in the future.
