Report: Woman shoots herself at Grass Valley City Hall

There’s no word in the local media, but here’s what I’ve confirmed:

•”Police scanners reporting someone shot themselves in the G.V. City Hall bathroom at 11.40 a.m.  Ambulance, fire and police are on the scene,” according to my sources.

•The victim was a woman, and she is dead, my sources said. She is not a Grass Valley City employee.

City Hall Clerk Kristi Bashor confirmed there were ambulance, fire and police on the scene but declined further comment.

The Grass Valley Police Department also declined comment for now.

I’ll keep you posted as I hear more.

Auburn Dam opponent speaking in Auburn

“With U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock pledging to continue the drive to one day build the long-delayed Auburn dam, the Auburn Area Democratic Club will be presenting arguments Thursday for not going ahead with the project,” according to the Auburn Journal.

“Laird Thompson, a geologist, environmentalist and Auburn-area resident, will speak on potential geologic and ecological hazards associated with its construction.

“Thompson will speak at a meeting that starts at 7 p.m. March 3 in the Auburn Library, 350 Nevada St., Auburn.

“Paul Berger, representative-at-large with the club, said although McClintock has been invited to speak in favor of the dam, he has not replied and is not expected to be at the meeting.”

iPad 2 expected this afternoon

Here’s what we might expect from iPad 2, according to Business Insider.

•We’re probably going to see SVP Marketing Phil Schiller reveal iPad 2, not Steve Jobs.

•The iPad 2 is definitely getting a front facing camera — and possibly a rear camera.

•Apple is going to add a bigger speaker to the back.

•It will be thinner and lighter.

•It will “likely” get a more powerful chip.

*The screen will be less reflective, so you can read it on the beach.

In its last earnings calls, Apple said it had sold nearly 15 million iPads, since it went on sale last spring.
