NFL’s Rodgers is “the man” in hometown of Chico

Actress Jessica Szohr

The Bee has a well-written profile on Chico native and former Cal quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who leads the Green Bay Packers into the NFC championship game against the Chicago Bears today.

We’re rooting for the Packers and Jets in the other game, but we’re Bears fans too. Any of the teams will make for one of the best Super bowl games in years. (Nothing about Aaron’s “glam” life, however: His girlfriend is Gossip Girl actress Jennifer Szohr).

“CHICO – In this tight-knit community that shares a neighborhood with winding rivers, rolling hills and one of California’s most attractive universities, heads still shake in disapproval, eyes still widen in disbelief,” the article reads.

“A decade changes nothing, and everything. Aaron Rodgers, 27, was the local star then and he’s the local star now. The difference is that he’s a huge presence on the national sports stage as well.

Ed and Darla Rodgers’ middle son – the one once scolded by a teacher for being too bossy – is widely known as the quarterback who drove Brett Favre out of Green Bay’s Lambeau Field, established his own identity as an emerging NFL superstar, and directed the Green Bay Packers into today’s NFC Conference championship game against the Chicago Bears.”
