Harry Reid beat Sharron Angle in the U.S. Senate race in Nevada — the most visible sign of a tea party flop in the West.
The defeat was projected by CNN.
It was one of the nastiest political races in the nation.
I’ve included a photo of some Sharron Angle campaign material I collected from her Reno office this summer, if you recall. I figure I can sell it on eBay.

Wow, that caught me (and Nate Silver) off guard.
I’m going to miss her in the Senate. It would have helped Obama in 2012.
The old Republican guard in Nevada support Harry Reid. The massive amounts of money and corruption that signify the gaming industry appreciated Harry’s “cleanup job” that gave them legitimacy in the ’80s and ’90s (and which led to the massive Las Vegas real estate collapse of the past few years, disproportionate to the rest of the country).
I think it’s interesting that the polls had Angle leading, but now she is projected to lose. It’s like having our own corrupt country of Mexico, right next door! What a state.
As much as Schumer makes my skin scrawl, he would have been 100 times better than Reid as Senate Majority Dear Leader going into 2012.
As I’ve said here all along, the extremism of the tea party probably cost them the Senate. Angle is a classic example. This is Politics 101: Find better qualified candidates.

I think at the end of the day you are right: The Democrats will be wishing that still had Angle & O’Donnel to be the face of the new Republican majority.
