“The APPLE Center for Sustainable Living will host a one-year anniversary party from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, October 24, 2010. The day’s schedule is filled with inspirational speakers, a delicious soup lunch, fun raffle prizes, educationaldemonstrations, entertainment and new member specials.
This event is free to attend and free to enter the Awesome Apple Pie Contest. To enter the Awesome Apple Pie Contest, go here for entry guidelines. Winners will be chosen in four categories, plus an overall winner. Lunch is available from 12:30pm to 1:30pm ($7 donation to Living Lands Agrarian Network).

1:30 Panel Discussion: “Activism for a Sustainable Nevada County.”
Panelists include Sally Harris (Nevada City Council member), Gary
Tintle (contractor and Nevada City Chamber board member), Kim
Musillani (mom and activist).

Highlight Accomplishments from the APPLE Center’s First Year
•Fifty-two events in fifty-two weeks with total attendance of 1500
•Six unique and original bi-monthly exhibits (topics: sustainability,
holiday traditions, water, food gardens, energy efficiency and
•Partnered with more than 100 local businesses through sponsorships,
displays, presentations and memberships.
•Researched and vetted over 100 items from 28 suppliers for the
APPLE Center’s Core Store.
•Hosted first ever policy collaboration meeting between Grass Valley,
Nevada City and County (on backyard chicken keeping).”
