Nevada City continues to receive national media attention for its bid to become a test site for an ultra high-speed broadband network. The New York Times also reported on Google’s bid. The S.F. Chronicle and Fox News also have visited Nevada City since year-end, reporting on the charm of our town.
The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce led by Cathy Whittlesey, and residents including National Hotel Owner Tom Coleman, Spiral Studios’ Chip Carman and John Paul and Mayor Reinette Senum, among others, are working hard to keep our town in the national spotlight. Thanks for that.

Chip and I are wonderfully amazed with all the publicity that Nevada City and Nevada County continues to receive from the 95959google effort. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered to make it possible. Especially to all the local performers on the day of the event: Earth Rhythms, Barry Friedman of the Raspyni Brothers, Kelly Fleming, Grass Valley Taiko, Grease Grit & Grime, and The Power of Twelve.
As I sit here with expensive and less than speedy satellite internet, the folks who put together 95950google have my heartfelt thanks. I hope we win, but if we don’t, it won’t be for a lack of a really wonderful effort.
GREAT EFFORT !
Commenters ought to be able to add pictures to their comments. Is that possible?
If you can’t post a pic directly, Doug, you could always post the pic elsewhere and link to it. (This being said by someone who very much wants to see your pic even if it is an extra click).
Is that the Yuba River bridge in the photo? I thought it was more of a “concrete” color.
