Sponsor of upcoming “meet the candidate” forum is promoting this video

Here’s a video (“Tax and Spend by Barack Obama”) that is being promoted on a social networking website of the Tea Party Patriots. “Mark Meckler created this Ning network,” according to the site. (Ning lets you create social network sites).

The Union and KNCO — our two dominant media outlets — have agreed to join the Tea Party Patriots in sponsoring a “meet the candidate” forum at the Veteran’s Hall on April Fool’s Day, as I reported earlier. Do The Union and KNCO condone this kind of “nonpartisanship”?

Did the Tea Party Patriots co-opt The Union and KNCO?

I’m surprised that Bob Breck, general manager of KNCO radio, and Jeff Ackerman, editor/publisher of The Union, agreed to co-sponsor a “Meet the Candidates” forum with the Tea Party Patriots, according to an email being sent around by Elaine Meckler.

The Tea Party Patriots are not the League of Women Voters, and some of the candidates at the forum — clerk-recorder candidate Barry Pruett, for one — are vocal supporters of the group.

How fair of a “forum” is this for the opposing candidates?

“We are asking that the candidates listed below to RSVP by March 3, so that we can print the program,” the email sent out by Elaine Meckler reads.

Why didn’t the media outlets send out the invite?

The candidate’s forum is on April 1 at the Veteran’s Hall, but it’s not an April Fool’s joke. KNCO will broadcast the event live.

“We expect to fill the auditorium,” Meckler writes. With who: Tea Party Patriots?

“Nevada County Tea Party Patriots – The Union Newspaper – KNCO Radio,” the email concludes. Wow.
